No matter where you are, we're thinking you're over 2020, right? In recent days, our producers have been hard at work behind the scenes crafting a clear-eyed look at the year that was (in case you need any reminders). From the extremes of partisan politics to a pandemic, protests and a reckoning over race, 2020 will go down in history as a turning point for millions in Texas and beyond. But history is largely academic if we can't learn from it. So what are the lessons of the past year, and more importantly – how might 2021 be different? We hope you can join us on New Year's Eve for a roundtable with reporters and recap of other stories that marked the end of an era. As our producers were preparing our coverage, however, they found it wasn't all bad news. The evidence? As you can see
below, they managed to corral the stories that made us smile in 2020, and roundup the year in streaming screens to boot. 'Tis still a busy season to be sure, but we hope you'll take the time to enjoy some of our specials we've prepared as you go about your business. On behalf of all of us at the Texas Standard, warm wishes for a new year filled with hope and happiness – and until next Wednesday, we'll see you on the radio.
- David Brown
