Jack:
When I first ran for Congress in 2018, many folks wrote me off early on. You see, I was up against an eight-term, anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ incumbent Democrat considered unbeatable.
But Kirsten Gillibrand and Off the Sidelines were among the first to support my long-shot bid. And after I narrowly lost that first primary, Kirsten and this community continued to have my back.
I thought about the countless amazing women that Off the Sidelines has inspired to run for office. It was because of them, and their courage to challenge the status quo and make their voices heard, that I knew almost immediately that I had to run again.
So I dusted myself off and got back in the race—and in 2020, this community helped me pull off an amazing victory.
I’m heading to Washington to represent Illinois-03 in Congress because of you. You had the courage to believe that we should never compromise when it comes to core values like reproductive freedoms and basic equality, even if it means ruffling a few feathers.
So I’m writing you today to say thank you. But I’m also writing to pay it forward. Because I want to make sure Off the Sidelines has the resources it needs to give the next amazing, progressive woman running for congress the same support I received.
I’m asking you personally: Can you make a year-end contribution to Off the Sidelines? Every dollar you give to this amazing organization goes directly toward electing progressive, fearless women to Congress. And with our House majority and the Senate on the line, this work couldn’t be more important. [[link removed]]
Thank you for all you’ve done, and for all I know you’ll continue to do.
Sincerely,
Marie

Congresswoman-elect, IL-03
