Hi John, as this difficult year is wrapping up, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for everything that you’ve done this year to protect immigrants and asylum seekers.

You’re getting this email because you're involved with the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) and you’ve submitted comments to oppose rules that would end asylum as we know it, called and emailed elected officials to defund ICE and border patrol and invest in our communities, talked to friends and family about immigration and racial justice issues, or helped raise money for the cause.

As part of my job at NIJC, I often get to interview those who have recently won their immigration cases, and get to see first-hand the incredible difference having representation and security in the U.S. makes: going to college, getting jobs, settling and making new community and family. Every little thing you do makes a huge difference in someone else’s life, and a huge difference in protecting immigrant rights.

I want to ask you to do one quick thing to end your 2020 on a positive note:

Please donate to NIJC before midnight on December 31st (do it now so you don’t forget!).

Your donation provides life-changing legal services for someone in your community.

A few months ago, I got to interview Osiel. He’s a former client of NIJC’s who fled Venezuela because of persecution as a gay man. Since NIJC helped him secure asylum, he has been able to find a job, an apartment, and met a boyfriend. In our interview, he told me: “Since I got to the United States, my life has changed from night to day... I speak of the National Immigrant Justice Center and the people that work there as my people.”

Right now, take just three minutes to make a donation and empower more people like Osiel in the coming year at: https://immigrantjustice.org/donate

Thank you for all you do to defend immigrant rights
