John,
The first 100 days of the Biden-Harris administration will set the tone for their entire presidency.
Joe Biden ran on a powerful tax fairness plan that would raise trillions of dollars from the wealthy and corporations to invest in an economy that supports working families and communities.
A major question is, will Congress act on Joe Biden’s tax fairness mandate or will they listen to the moneyed-Wall Street interests who for too long have controlled our rigged economy?
It’s up to us to work closely with President Biden and Vice President Harris to make sure Congress acts on the Biden-Harris working-families agenda, not the corporate special-interest agenda.
Americans for Tax Fairness has outlined a 100 Day Agenda for Joe Biden on Tax Issues, based on Biden’s campaign promises. It’s time that we expand and strengthen Social Security; improve access to healthcare and high-quality child care; rebuild our infrastructure and create a clean renewable-energy future; ensure Pre-K for all children and access to high-quality, affordable childcare; make college affordable and reduce student debt; and so much more.
And we start by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share in taxes!
Make a year-end tax-deductible donation to Americans for Tax Fairness today to fight for Joe Biden’s tax fairness mandate, and to hold Congress accountable to the American people in 2021.
ATF’s 100 Day Agenda includes:
-
Build Back Better Through a Fair Share Tax System
-
Restore Taxpayer Trust Through Strong Enforcement
-
Assess the Impact of the Tax Code on Racial Inequities and the Racial Wealth Gap
-
Require Presidential and Vice-presidential Candidates and Officeholders to Release Their Tax Returns
-
Require Increased Disclosure by Any Special Interest Seeking to Lobby the IRS, Treasury, or Other Executive Branch Office (including the White House) for Tax Relief
Each one of these areas is critical to building a future where we all don’t just survive, but thrive.
Did you know that each year, $630 billion in taxes goes uncollected by the IRS, with about half of that shortfall coming from corporations and other businesses that underreport their income?[1]
And, did you know that the 2017 Trump-GOP tax scam worsened the racial income and wealth gaps, as do many pre-existing provisions of the tax code?
We know how to begin to address these disparities in our rigged economy and tax system. We just need Congress to have the political will to deliver.
Together, let’s make sure the incoming administration and Congress begin delivering on our shared agenda on Day 1. Make a year-end tax-deductible donation to Americans for Tax Fairness to fight for a fair share tax system and an economy that leaves no one behind.
Together, we accomplished big things in 2020. But that is only the start.
Thank you,
Mark Rickling
