When I first heard about Trump’s Zero Tolerance policy, tearing children from their parents at our border and literally locking them in cages, I was deeply sickened and outraged.

As a new mom, I cannot imagine having my baby torn away from me and caged for the simple act of seeking a better, safer life. The path has never been easy for immigrants to make a life for themselves here, but this is just evil.

That is why I am proud to support Families Belong Together. They are leading the fight to reunite every family separated by the Trump administration and free families from detention.

Over the past 2.5 years, #FamiliesBelongTogether has become a critical mantra for the fight for immigrant justice and dignity for families. But the fight for family dignity is not over with a few Executive Orders of the incoming administration. We have a long way to go to ensure that the cruelty we have seen over the last 4 years never happens again.
