I want to be honest with you.

Dear John,

I want to be honest with you.

More than two months after an election that Joe Biden won decisively, right-wing disinformation is so widespread that an outrageous 28% of Republicans think the election was stolen.

That's according to a Morning Consult poll released last week, which also found that only 19% of Republicans think Trump should concede—even after the Trump campaign and its allies have lost more than 30 court cases challenging the outcome of the election.

Meanwhile, on December 22, eight days after the Electoral College officially declared Joe Biden the winner, Trump once again gave a speech in the White House claiming to have won the election “by a landslide.”

That's why I helped found Inequality Media, to provide clear, factual, and engaging analysis on the economy, health care, the environment, civil rights, education, the federal budget, and our democratic institutions—and what people can do to make America work for all of us, not just the wealthy few.

We have a huge reach: with nearly 6 million social media followers across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube, we connect with an average of more than 14 million people a week.

I'm proud of this work. Time and again, we have helped progressives shift the debate—and win—on critical issues. And at a time when those in power are spreading dangerous lies that threaten the very fabric of our democracy, our mission is more important than ever.

Our small army of grassroots donors have been key to Inequality Media’s success from the beginning. And we need your help now more than ever.

Videos are our bread and butter, and to date we've made over 220 that have been viewed over 440 million times. Most recently, we’ve produced videos about how the rich vs. everyone else experience COVID-19, how voters gave Joe Biden and Kamala Harris a progressive mandate, why Attorney General Barr is so dangerous, and how we can reimagine public safety.

In addition to our videos, we also post timely information on Facebook and other platforms and stream live discussions and interviews with leading progressive thinkers and leaders.

Because of the support of individuals like you, we've been able to reach hundreds of millions of people with clear, compelling videos and social media posts about what's happening to our democracy, our society, and our economy—and how we can create an America that works for all of us.

And the feedback we're getting suggests our work is hitting the mark: viewers say our videos are being used in high school classrooms, are encouraging and helpful to voters, and are even helping progressives change the hearts and minds of their conservative friends and relatives.

But we can't do this alone. We need your help to continue to produce videos, analyses, interviews, and much more.

My colleagues and I at Inequality Media are more committed than ever to strengthening our democracy and creating an economy that works for the many rather than the few.

For 2021, we’re already planning videos on the progressive actions Joe Biden can take in his first 100 days, the importance of public investment, and setting the record straight on the endless stream of GOP lies. Your donation will directly support these projects and more.

In these difficult times, you, our viewers, have been a source of hope and inspiration to us. Together, we must continue to reclaim our democracy, hold the media accountable, dismantle disinformation networks, and rebuild the country.

Please help support Inequality Media's work. Click here now to make a tax-deductible donation of $3—or whatever you can afford.

Thanks for all you do,

Robert Reich
