The Boundary Waters is an incredible landscape that is vital for us and for the planet. In particular, protecting this Wilderness [[link removed]] is critical to combating climate change because:
The Twin Metals copper mine, according to a 2014 Prefeasibility Report for the proposed mine, is estimated to produce 23,444,730 metric tons of CO2 over a 20-year life of the mine. This is equal to greenhouse gas emissions from adding nearly 5 million passenger vehicles to the roads for a year.
The total 4.3 million-acre Quetico Superior region plays a vital role in carbon sequestration, and is a critical landscape for climate adaptation and resilience, according to a recent study from the Nature Conservancy.
