Welcome to Wednesday, December 30th, sticks and stones...

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced Tuesday that the agency has begun the distribution of the new coronavirus economic impact payments to eligible Americans.

In a pair of tweets, Mnuchin explained:

“@USTreasury has delivered a payment file to the @FederalReserve for Americans’ Economic Impact Payments. These payments may begin to arrive in some accounts by direct deposit as early as tonight and will continue into next week
Paper checks will begin to be mailed tomorrow. Later this week, you can check the status of your payment at IRS.gov/GetMyPayment.”

Under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on Sunday, Americans can receive up to $600 for each adult and child in a household depending on their income.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) introduced legislation that would combine additional demands from President Trump: increased direct payments, a repeal of the online liability protections (Section 230), and the establishment of a commission to study voter fraud.

Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the bill a "cynical gambit" and "a blatant attempt" to ensure the $2,000 payments were not signed into law.

How do you feel about the new economic impact payments?

Ivanka 2024

A tweet by Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and adviser, has raised speculation that she may run for president in 2024.

It's an idea the elder Trump endorses.

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire in August, President Trump criticized Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, saying she wasn't the type of woman who could make history as the first female president.

"They're all saying, 'We want Ivanka!'" he pointed to cheering supporters. "I don't blame them!"

Would you support Ivanka Trump in 2024?

QAnon: Q & A

Check out our video for a full explainer - with pictures! - of this omnibus conspiracy theory.

But here's a peek at our Q n' A:

Give me the one-line explainer of QAnon

QAnon believes that Donald Trump is secretly fighting a cabal of Satan-worshiping elites that engage in pedophilia, child sacrifice, and death squads.

How did QAnon begin?

In October 2017, a person calling themselves “Q Clearance Patriot” began posting cryptic messages on the anonymous message board 4chan. “Q” is a reference to high-level security clearance, which the poster claimed they had.

Q announced they would slowly – and enigmatically – release top-secret evidence of a worldwide criminal conspiracy. These bits of evidence are dubbed “breadcrumbs” by the theory’s followers.

Those who develop meaning from the crumbs are called "bakers."

What do you think of QAnon?

And, in the End…

On this date in 1953, the first color TVs went on sale.

They cost around $1,175.
