Dear John,
As 2020 draws to a close, we at ALIGN are reflecting on the progress we’ve made this year and our vision for 2021. Throughout this year of crisis, we’ve been uplifting the conditions workers face every day, and have been creating spaces for New York to invest in high-quality green jobs. This is necessary and important work, and it’s only possible with the support of strong allies like you.

It took the collective power of ALIGN, our allies, and our communities to get through this past year. When private sanitation workers lost hours, were laid off, or became sick due to COVID-19, we created a relief fund that gave 270 workers food and cash assistance. In a time when we see the economy and job market collapsing, we built up our vision for a future with sustainable, green jobs through our Climate Works for All campaign. As workers got sick and died because corporations wouldn’t pay for safer workplaces, we fought to ensure workers have the ability to hold corporations accountable through the NY HERO Act (now introduced in the senate!).
Although we enter 2021 facing many of the same challenges of 2020, ALIGN has seen a shift in national conversations about racial, economic, and climate justice, and we’re feeling hopeful. With our allies at our side, we’ll be able to build off of this year’s momentum to pass the NY HERO Act and continue our work creating an economy that serves our communities and our planet. As the year closes, we hope that we can count on your support to help us achieve our vision for a just and sustainable future.
