Friend: When disaster strikes, Doctors Without Borders can be on the scene at a moment’s notice. MSF’s logistics coordinators work hard to ensure that—but they need your help.
It’s vital to monitor stock levels and anticipate future needs so that orders can be placed up to three months in advance of expected needs. That means we need to start shipping out resources now to make sure our supply centers are prepared to support emergency responses around the world in 2021.
Of the many tools our teams use to provide emergency care, MSF’s pre-packaged disaster kits are among the most important. These kits vary by emergency and need. For example, one type of kit includes a complete surgical theatre the size of a small conference table and can be sent anywhere in the world via logistical centers based in Europe, East Africa, Central America, and East Asia.
Between COVID-19 and the many existing crises we address around the world—including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria—our disaster kits are more in-demand than ever. We need your help, Friend, to ensure we have the materials and resources necessary to build and send vital equipment, like these kits, to MSF teams on the ground in 2021.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
