Antoinette fled her home, after political violence in the Democratic
Republic of Congo took her husband’s life. With no money to go to the
hospital, Antoinette gave birth to her daughter, Sarah (both pictured
below), at the house of her village chief.

"I was very scared that the baby would die during delivery," she told us.
But they both survived. And though this young family now faces a painful
loss and struggles for security, Antoinette and Sarah have each other,
they have community and they have our support.
