This is how we advocate for human rights as an organization:

3X MATCHING OFFER | FUND OUR CRISIS RESPONSE

Dear John,

As a human rights crisis investigator for Amnesty International, I travel to crisis zones, talk with survivors and witnesses, painstakingly document human rights violations, and train the world’s eyes on events we might rather ignore.

Though this work can be challenging, I have stayed with it thanks to you. You and millions of human rights defenders worldwide — you read our research, and you react. You refuse to turn away from horrors. You demand justice from your elected officials and from leaders around the world.

I have been moved to tears by letters that people like you have sent to prisoners of conscience worldwide, reminding them that they are not forgotten. You keep the world watching.

As an organization that receives no money from governments for our research, campaigning and advocacy — and a movement of 10 million people worldwide — Amnesty counts on people like you for help to do our work, day in and day out. John, will you make a year-end gift to support Amnesty’s crisis investigation work around the world? Give before the 2020 midnight deadline, and your gift will be triple-matched for three times the impact »

It gives me hope to see our members standing alongside us. Seeing people speak out, show up, and demand change — that is what gives me the boost to keep going.

It’s also how we advocate for human rights as an organization: trained researchers like me document human rights abuses around the globe, and we publish reports based on our findings that are spread far and wide to the media, the public, and lawmakers. From there, our campaigners mobilize millions of voices like yours to pressure decisionmakers to reverse harmful policies and laws.

In my four years as a crisis investigator, I’ve deployed with our rapid response team to countries including Yemen and the Philippines. I’ve seen firsthand that Amnesty’s work can make a difference. When we show up with a pen in hand, cameras, microphones, a team of interviewers, we can change things. We can expose human rights abuses in real time, helping to stem them and to ensure accountability.

Being able to respond immediately in any corner of the globe makes a huge difference. And it takes serious resources.

Please don’t pass up this chance to triple your impact and help build Amnesty’s capacity to deploy in crisis zones. Make a special donation before midnight on December 31st.

We know that 2021 will be a tremendous year of opportunities for progress in human rights in the U.S. and globally — and yet, without a doubt, we’ll still see ongoing human rights violations. And whether these abuses are committed by a longstanding royal family, a breakaway warlord, an unaccountable police force, or a group of bureaucrats, Amnesty will be ready to investigate them and build the movement for justice and accountability.

Don’t forget for a second how integral you are to that.

Thank you, today and always, for being part of our movement. I wish you and your family a safe new year.

Sincerely,

Rawya Rageh
