We wanted to address the elephant in the room. Why does All On The Line care about the Georgia runoff election?
By now we’re sure you know that this runoff election will decide which party holds the Senate majority -- but if statewide elections like Senate seats can’t be gerrymandered and the Senate doesn’t draw any legislative or congressional map… what’s the impact on redistricting?
It goes back to something A.G. Holder said in an email to you the other day. He said our movement is fighting a battle that elected officials in Washington should have prevented a long time ago. Congress should have already put laws on the books to prevent partisan congressional gerrymandering!
The House has passed commonsense democracy reforms like the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to shore up our elections and combat voter suppression. But the Senate has failed to act, and that’s why we’re asking you to chip in to our Democracy Reform Fund.
