This week, a new stimulus package was passed into law that provides assistance to individuals, businesses, schools and universities among others. There is a variety of aid available so stick with me as I break down the details of what may be available for you personally.

-If you are an American who made $99,000 or less in the 2019 tax year, you'll be getting a stimulus check. The majority of these will be for $600. Those who made over $75,000 will have reduced payments but checks will go to both adults and children.

-Unemployment benefits have been extended for up to and additional $300/week through March 14th, as long as you qualify. Pandemic Unemployment Assistance has also been extended (this targets part time and gig workers). There are new documentation requirements for those extending benefits, visit floridajobs.org for more details

-Additional funding has been provided for PPP loans and EIDL grant programs. Small businesses, non-profits, and independent contractors can be eligible for this new round of loans if they can show at least a gross 25% loss. Certain businesses who received assistance already can apply for a second round of forgivable PPP loans, including non profits, sole proprietors, housing organizations, and other "hard hit" businesses.

If you or someone you know have questions or need assistance with applying for PPP loans, EIDL grants or unemployment benefits, please reach out to my office.

I know that this package wasn't enough. Families in our community and across the state are struggling to make ends meet. I've seen the notices from beloved local businesses who are closing their doors. The vaccine is on its way, but we are not yet on the other side of the health or economic impacts of COVID-19.

Wear your mask. Shop local when you can. And don't hesitate to reach out to my team when you need help. I'll be fighting for you and your families in Tallahassee in a few weeks time.
