It's the end of a most difficult year. While we can look forward to a new Democratic administration and the distribution of vaccines, we will continue to carry the heavy weight of loss and trauma from 2020. We hope you and your family are safe and healthy at this time.
As you know, Georgia voters will decide on January 5 which party will control the U.S. Senate. Just today we heard news about why this is so important: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is blocking an effort by Democrats to increase direct payments to Americans struggling amidst the pandemic.
We need to do all we can to help Jon Ossoff and the Rev. Raphael Warnock win their runoff races in Georgia. It is the only way we can ensure Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are able to pursue a progressive agenda to help all Americans.
If you have some time toward the end of the year, or the first few days of 2021, please help make calls to Georgia voters to make sure they know about the upcoming election and how to vote. You can choose from a number of times and will receive a Zoom training on phone-banking (so no previous experience is necessary)!
Soon, the 2020 election season will be over. Let's add a Democratic Senate majority to the list of victories we had in November!
On January 26 at 6:30 PM, BYD is hosting its first general body meeting of 2021! We will be hearing from candidates for Comptroller, Brooklyn Borough President, and the 37th Council District. Following the meeting, we will be voting on endorsements for those races as well as a runoff poll between Lincoln Restler and Elizabeth Adams, who we heard from last month.
All dues-paying members in good standing are eligible to vote.
Stay tuned to your inbox for the Zoom link! In the meantime, RSVP on Facebook!
