Donald Trump will soon be dust – and I’m sure that makes you as happy as it makes me.
We deserve to celebrate and put this year behind us … but even as we do, the next critical phase of our work to reclaim, restore, and reinvigorate the American Way begins.
It’s hard to believe, at least for me, that as we head into this next chapter for America, People For the American Way heads into its 40th anniversary year! Bless every one of you that made those 40 years possible.
Because of your dedication, patriotism, and unflagging devotion to the work of People For, I could not be more optimistic about what the organization can accomplish in the future. Certainly the need could not be greater.
So – let’s win in Georgia, flip control of the Senate, and take away Mitch McConnell’s power to obstruct progress and sabotage the Biden-Harris administration.
Let’s push Congress and state legislatures to take bold action to protect voting rights and strengthen our democracy.
Let’s press for decisive progress in the areas of racial and gender justice.
Let’s go all-in to support the young leaders we helped to elect in cities and states across the country so they can be the vanguard for bold progressive change nationwide.
Let's fight to restore fairness and independence in our federal judiciary.
And let’s prepare now for the essential victories we need to win post-2020.
Trump will be gone from the White House soon. But the challenges and threats from the Far Right movement he helped to radicalize aren't going anywhere ... which makes the work of People For the American Way more important than ever.
