John,
Janet Cyril was one of the fiercest leaders of the Black Panther Party. She was a founder of the Free Breakfast Program that helped feed our communities and worked tirelessly to build an inclusive and powerful Black Liberation Movement. She instilled in her comrades, children, and mentees that we must fiercely fight for all Black people -- and that our movement must love and center queer youth, incarcerated people, and political prisoners.
Janet Cyril mentored an entire generation of activists before she left us too soon in 2005. That's why this Kwanzaa season, we're celebrating her life and her work by supporting the Janet Cyril Fund.
The Janet Cyril Fund will provide resources to our elders that sacrificed so much for our modern day fight for Black liberation. The fund will ensure that our elder freedom fighters can age with dignity -- but we need your help to support our leaders so we can reach their $60,000 goal before the Kwanzaa season is over in just 2 days.
This Kwanzaa season, can you show gratitude by donating so we can ensure our elder Black liberation fighters have the food, housing, and medical care they need to thrive?
When you live on freedom's frontline, there is no pension and no retirement -- the only safety net is the one the movement offers. The Janet Cyril Fund will strive to provide as many resources as possible to the literal architects of the Black liberation movement.
They've got an initial goal of $60,000. Whether you give $10 or $100, please know that it could help prevent one of our leaders from getting evicted from their home, provide them with home health care, or even help to put food on their tables.
Our elder activists put their lives on the line for us and have fought countless undeclared wars against Black communities all over. They fought for our lives, and they need our help -- so please chip in whatever you can before the Kwanzaa season is over >>
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter Global Network
