John,
It is past time that we get serious about criminal justice reform. That includes decriminalizing marijuana.
The MORE Act, which the House passed recently, would remove it from the list of federally controlled substances and expunge low-level marijuana convictions, which have historically affected communities of color disproportionately.
Additionally, with the passage of this bill, an opportunity trust fund would be created for people whose convictions were overturned to provide job training and assistance for re-entry into their communities.
These people have been let down by the system, and the MORE Act ensures that we will not continue to leave them behind.
Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and Representatives Jerry Nadler, Barbara Lee, and Earl Blumenauer have taken the lead on this issue with conviction and urgency, and I want to do everything in my power to help them get this done.
It's time to decriminalize marijuana. DONATE NOW to help us get this progressive legislation passed >>
