Move vehicles from the street when 2 inches or more snow falls to allow plows to pass

Oswego is under its first winter weather advisory of the season, and the Village of Oswego would like to remind residents to move their vehicles from streets.

Village ordinance requires that all vehicles must be moved from the street when at least two inches of snow has accumulated. This allows plows to pass safely and prevents your vehicle from being plowed in. Vehicles that are not moved from the street may be subject to ticketing or towing.

Winter Weather Reminders

* *Stay home and off the roads*. This helps snow crews keep roads clear and keeps emergency personnel safe.
* *Give plows space.* Plow operators have limited fields of vision. If you must go out, give snow plows extra room to work and to avoid salt spray. Do not tailgate plows, and avoid trying to pass them. Plan for additional time to get to your destination.
* *Priority is given to keeping major roadways cleared for emergency vehicles.* Plows will clear main arterial roads first, followed by neighborhood streets. Cul de sacs will be plowed by contractors. The State of Illinois plows US Routes 30 and 34, and Illinois Routes 71 and 25. Kendall County plows Orchard Road.
* *Play in the snow safely.* Snowball fights can be a safe, socially distanced activity; however, parents should keep children away from plows, and snow forts should be built far away from streets. Plow drivers may not be able to tell the difference between a snow pile in need of plowing and a fort.

Forecast
