Dear John, This year has been a lot, and even though many people are breathing a sigh of relief after the election, we know that things could actually get worse. It’s likely the instability and disasters we’ve seen will continue to increase as people are lulled into complacency because their side “won”. That isn’t just conjecture, because our frontline communities have seen it happen election cycle after election cycle. At the same time, at
the local level, there have been some truly amazing shifts. Despite the ongoing pandemic, communities are becoming increasingly interconnected and building power through mutual aid networks, resistance to evictions, responding to ecological devastation, and more. Will you commit to supporting communities on the frontlines of climate justice by becoming a recurring donor to CJA today?
While you think about your answer, here are a few things we’re looking forward to next year: - Watching the collective strength of the 37 new Our Power Communities grow as they build regional Just Transition hubs.
- Making sure that the
frontlines and their innovative and scalable solutions stay front and center in any plans for a Green New Deal that come out of this new government.
- Finding, using, and creating even more tools to support solutions on the ground, like our non-extractive loan fund and incubator.
- Launching a bold new project that will resource and support 20 frontline organizations to staff a full time communications team member who will work together collectively to create a more powerful climate justice story.
