Hi there,

I want to echo what Rachel said to you yesterday: Our advocacy efforts, like exposing the true level of COVID-19 relief dollars that went to private religious schools and helping to stop more taxpayer money from flowing to them, are only possible because of you.

Will you invest in church-state separation before December 31st?

Thanks for all that you do,

Americans United for Separation of Church and State

2020 showed us how much we can endure when we don’t lose hope.

2021 will show us how much we can accomplish when we don’t lose focus.

Under the Trump administration, the separation of religion and government has been tested like never before. It’s time to turn the page, seize the initiative, and restore true religious freedom in our country.

At this pivotal moment, we are challenging ALL our supporters to pull together and help AU raise $75,000 with MATCHED donations to restore religious freedom.

All year-end gifts matched through December 31!

Click here to donate your matched gift now and double your impact on our efforts to restore religious freedom and protect church-state separation.

Here are just a few of the accomplishments YOU made possible over these last 12 months:

  • Protecting our Constitution during the COVID-19 pandemic. AU filed more than 40 briefs in court cases nationwide to ensure that houses of worship couldn’t claim special exemptions to hold dangerous gatherings in the middle of a pandemic. In the vast majority of these cases, the judges agreed with our position – but the Supreme Court recently undermined these decisions, underscoring how much work lies ahead.
  • Exposing COVID-19 relief funds that were funneled to private religious schools. AU’s blockbuster report revealed that up to $6.4 billion relief dollars – FIVE TIMES the per-student amount given to public schools – went to private, mostly religious schools that teach only 10% of the nation’s children. Many of these schools now receiving our taxpayer dollars even discriminate against students and staff.
  • Strengthening our movement with AU’s first-ever National Advocacy Summit. Over 800 activists from 39 states came together virtually to immerse themselves in the fight for religious freedom, boosting our momentum and expanding our ranks of activists and supporters, and we held over 100 virtual visits with members of Congress to support the Do No Harm Act.
  • Preparing for 2021 with an Agenda to Restore & Protect Religious Freedom. The incoming Biden-Harris administration must make church-state separation a priority, and AU is leading the charge with a clear, bold, and actionable 10-point plan that charts a path to reclaiming religious freedom.

To continue our work into this crucial next year, we urgently need your support ahead of our year-end deadline. Please take advantage of our matching fund to DOUBLE your generous gift today.

Thank you so very much for being with us at this unique moment in our history of unparalleled challenge and now enormous opportunity.

In solidarity,

Rachel K. Laser
President and CEO

Online contributions will be matched through December 31, 2020, up to a limit of $75,000. All gifts made in excess of this limit will still provide valuable funding for AU’s efforts to defend church-state separation.
