Dear John,

Restoring and protecting rivers is a critical part of our work. Approximately 80-100 dams are removed each year, and we’re directly involved with 10-20% of that work. We also maintain the database of record for dams removed since 1912. In addition to the projects we're leading, we provide critical training, help states build dam removal programs, lead regional teams, and work at a national policy level – all to help hundreds of projects move forward each year.

In short, we are the national leader in dam removal, and 2021 is shaping up to be another important year. Can we count on you to help us with this work?

Frank Holleman, the board president of the Naturaland Trust in South Carolina gave us one of the nicest compliments. He said:

“American Rivers is the pre-eminent river protection organization in America. American Rivers has taken the lead in dam removal on South Carolina’s rivers and has been an inspiration for us as we remove two dams from South Carolina mountain streams to restore brook trout habitat.”

The truth is, we can’t lead the way on any work without your help. This December we have an important match opportunity: every dollar up to $150,000 will be matched. That is $300,000 of critical work to protect and restore our nation’s rivers, so that people nationwide can enjoy free rivers and clean water.

Will you help us reach our $150,000 goal this month? With less than a week to go, every dollar counts. There’s not much time left, please consider donating today!

Thank you for all you do for our rivers,

Eric Boucher
