Hey,
I'm the new Chief Technology Officer here at the Texas Democratic Party, and I wanted to send a quick note to introduce myself. I'm a Texan born and raised -- and a battle-hardened data expert.
From Beto O'Rourke's Senate campaign, to Andrew Yang's tech-first presidential run, to our 2020 Texas Democratic campaign, I've spent the last few years fighting to elect Democrats using data-driven strategy. With your help, we're going to build on the success of our data program in the new year -- and I couldn't be more excited to take on that work together.
Data underpins everything we do. It allows us to organize efficiently and give our volunteers a head start -- whether it's registering new voters or bringing our base together for critical battles. It helps us figure out which issues are most important to Texans and what resonates with them. And this year, it'll be critical to fighting Republican gerrymandering and creating fair districts.

Used right, data is the edge we need to win. In a state like Texas, that's even more important. We are a massive state and diverse in every way, and that's what sets us apart. However, it also means data models from out of state just don't cut it. That's why we're focusing on creating our own models, so that we don't have to rely on outside strategy -- or unreliable polling -- to elect Texas Democrats.
That's the core challenge I'll be wrestling with next year, with the help of our truly brilliant data team here at the party.
It's also a dream come true. I've lived my whole life in Texas, and growing up watching the struggles of my family out in West Texas, the failures of Texas Republicans stared me straight in the face. The GOP has sold us out for long enough. If we put in the work -- grounded in great data and strategy -- we will end their time in power.
Chip in $7 or whatever you can before our deadline.
Let's make it happen,
John Elson
