Dear John,

As the new year dawns, Americans looks back on a difficult 2020 and forward to an uncertain 2021. After enduring nine months of suffering and division caused by the coronavirus pandemic and anticipating four years of what may be the most pro-abortion, pro-gender ideology, and anti-religious-liberty administration in US history, it can seem like hope in the American project is misplaced.

You aren't giving up, though, and neither are we. We at Public Discourse will spend the year of 2021 helping forge a path forward. Public Discourse is dedicated to providing not only the best criticism of our ailing culture, but also the most thoughtful proposals for fostering the good life and building a better world.

In 2021, PD authors will be thinking through the problems that our nation faces and the solutions to those problems: what should the future of conservatism look like after the Trump presidency? How can we defend morality and the common good from the likely assaults of the Biden administration? How can Republicans and Democrats work together to find some semblance of justice? What can professors do to promote a healthy culture on campus? What can husbands and wives do to cultivate healthy families? How can we protect life from conception to natural death?

At the end of 2020, we at Public Discourse thank you for turning to us in order to sort out a challenging year. We hope that you will help us pave the way for a better 2021 and beyond by supporting us. If you donate before December 31, your gift will be doubled, thanks to the generosity of Witherspoon Institute Trustee Michael Maibach and Trustee Emeritus Boyd Smith.
