3.8 million people used Transparency USA to reach their political goals.

Friend,
In 2020, the heightened interest in state politics felt, in many ways, as unprecedented as everything else about this year. There were those who, for the first time, became truly aware of their state leadership, and the impact of those officeholders on their daily lives.
Our expansion to a national brand was already in the works before the pandemic and the landmark events of 2020 were underway. We knew even then that there was an appetite for reliable state-level campaign finance data. We felt confident that we could provide the most accurate information available, and we’d seen the number of people who accessed our Texas-specific data continue to climb year after year.
Still, you never truly know if people will use your service until it’s out there.
As it turns out, people want to know about campaign finance in their state. From citizens to reporters to the candidates themselves, more than 3.8 million people have accessed Transparency USA data since our national launch in June 2020.
Frankly, the level of interest from users far surpassed our goals for a mid-year, mid-cycle launch. We are thrilled that so many people are finding their own answers in state-level politics, and relying on our database to do so. Thank you for your trust. We will continue to earn it by providing cleaned-up records that are more accurate and reliable than you’ll find anywhere else. The Transparency USA team painstakingly combs through every line of data to remove duplicates, confusion, and errors.
Our summer launch into eight additional states was made possible by support from our donors. With limited capital, we focused the first phase of our national expansion on the traditional swing states -- those with the greatest level of historical interest. Now, as states like Georgia capture outsized national interest during the final stretch of 2020, we’re assessing which states are the most critical to add during our second phase.
Continued support will allow us to grow our coverage while keeping our database free to access. If you’d like to donate to our organization, you can do so here ([link removed]) . (You can also let us know which state you’d like to see us add next). Transparency USA is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization, and we are proud to see our data in use by individuals and organizations from across the political spectrum.
