John,
Last night was big for When They See Us, the Ava DuVernay-directed Netflix miniseries about the wrongful convictions of Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise—all teenagers at the time of their arrest and sentencing in the case known at the time as the Central Park Five.
The series was up for a momentous 16 Emmys. Aisha Coley, Billy Hopkins and Ashley Ingram won the Emmy for Outstanding Casting For A Limited Series, Movie, or Special, and Jharrel Jerome took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Series for playing exoneree Korey Wise. In his acceptance speech, Jerome thanked his family, Ava, his team, and the Exonerated Five:
** "This is for the men that we know as the Exonerated Five: It's for Raymond, Yusef, Antron, Kevin and King Korey Wise!"

Today, read our interview with Kevin Richardson, where he reveals how his life has changed since When They See Us was released. ([link removed])
Less than a month after its premiere in May 2019, the series reached 23 million streams worldwide, according to data released by Netflix and DuVernay, who worked closely with Yusef (who currently serves as a member of the Innocence Project board of directors), Antron, Korey, Raymond and Kevin to tell their stories. In the weeks leading up to the release, the five men presented DuVernay with the Innocence Project’s Award for Freedom and Justice at our annual benefit, and thanked her for bringing their experience to life with honesty and care.

Three When They See Us cast members are Innocence Ambassadors: Michael K. Williams, who played the father of Antron McCray; Aurora Perrineau, who played the girlfriend of Raymond Santana after his release; and Niecy Nash, who played Korey Wise’s mother.
We’re grateful to everyone involved in making When They See Us a success—every time the story of an exonerated person is told, we come closer to preventing these grave injustices from ever happening again.
