A supermarket freezer aisle with text that reads: Campaign Update: Walmart finally sets refrigerant goal - but it more than misses the mark.

Friend,

Communities across the world are facing the dangerous effects of the climate crisis. Record-breaking temperatures, ravaging wildfires, catastrophic storms and flooding are devastating signs that the climate crisis is here – and it will worsen, unless polluters make aggressive changes now.

That’s why our Cool It campaign pushes companies like Walmart to end the use of climate-damaging super pollutants.

Walmart’s stores are leaking greenhouse gases called HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) from their refrigeration. These gases leak out through faulty equipment and accelerate climate change.

In fact, HFCs have thousands of times the warming power of CO2 – and HFCs make up nearly half of Walmart’s direct emissions that impact the climate.

More than 100,000 of you have taken action with us and told Walmart to Cool It, and the company has finally announced a goal to reach "low-impact refrigerants" by 2040.

But two decades is too long to wait when communities are facing destructive impacts of the climate crisis today!

Major companies like Aldi and Target are already going HFC-free in many stores. We’re urging Walmart to meet the scale of this crisis and to release a detailed plan to cut its refrigerant emissions on a more aggressive timeline.

Sign and share our petition telling Walmart to Cool It for the Climate today!
