Quinn was born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia -- a life-threatening condition in which organs normally located in the lower abdomen move into the chest and constrict the heart and lungs.

Within hours of her birth, she was rushed to CHLA, where a team of specialists came together to save her life.

Quinn spent more than two weeks receiving treatment to give her lungs time to develop before surgery.

Quinn finally got to spend her first night at home when she was 9 months old. For now, she needs a tracheostomy and home ventilator to assist with her breathing. She continues to be closely monitored by her pulmonologist at CHLA and is participating in the Newborn Follow-up Program.
