Dear Friend,
October 3, 2018 was the worst day of Noor Elshaar’s life. As a 28-year-old with cystic fibrosis, Noor’s lung function had dropped and she found herself in the hospital.
For years, Noor’s health had been declining. While in the hospital, she remained so sick that after three weeks, Noor was added to the lung transplant list.

Three months after being listed, on January 12, 2019, Noor received her double-lung transplant.
Like so many with CF who are post-transplant, the experience was not without its complications. Noor’s gallbladder failed, her sternum became infected, and she had appendicitis.
“Despite all these roadblocks,” Noor said, “I reminded myself: I can still breathe.” Eventually, Noor grew stronger and her health improved.
SUPPORT THE FIGHT ([link removed])
Today, Noor’s eyes are on the future. She wants to travel to Paris and Saudi Arabia to visit her extended family, write a book, finish her bachelor’s degree, and return in-person to the classroom where she teaches kindergarten and third grade.
While spending more time at home during this past year, Noor has prioritized connecting with members of the cystic fibrosis community. She meets up with her friends through online fitness classes, participates in virtual events, and even walked 65 kilometers as a part of the ROSE UP Challenge.
“What inspires me about the CF community is how we’re all still fighting for each other — even if we’re not physically present.”
Friend, the support of people like you can help drive our research forward – giving Noor and others with cystic fibrosis the gift of more time to pursue their dreams.
Help support the best possible life for all people with CF. Make your gift today ([link removed]).
