Hi John,

We know we don’t have to remind you that gun violence is a public health crisis. And we don’t have to tell you that the epidemic has only been accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic. But as the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on just how big a toll this crisis takes on our communities.

It is too soon to know exactly how many people have been touched by the gun violence epidemic this year. But preliminary data shows that 4,876 children under 17 have been shot in 2020. That means that on an average day this year 14 kids were struck by a bullet.

We refuse to accept this as the price of living in the United States. We have bold plans to build on and protect our progress in the fight against gun violence in the year ahead. But we won’t be able to do it alone. We need your help to ensure that our 2021 plans of taking on the gun lobby, stopping armed extremism, and saving lives become reality.

Please, make a year-end gift to help keep our kids and communities safe from gun violence.

Sincerely,
Renée (she/her)
