And it's no secret that Black, Indigenous, and communities of color have been facing the overwhelming brunt of pollution and the adverse effects of climate change brought on by this administration and a noxious legacy of environmental racism.

From working to reverse rollbacks to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which gives people the tools to block heavily polluting projects in their backyards, to securing access to safer drinking water in places like Flint, Michigan — NRDC continues to work alongside environmental justice groups and frontline communities to ensure that we're defending the environment and communities from these injustices.

But in his waning time as President, Trump is unleashing a slew of last-ditch, polluter-sponsored attacks on vulnerable communities, and it's up to us to stop them.

But Trump is not out of office yet and these next few weeks may prove pivotal to our environmental future — especially because his slashing and burning of environmental safeguards are most likely to disproportionately impact vulnerable communities:

• We're in court to defend the offshore drilling ban that protects the 128 million acres of wildlife-rich waters in the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans that Indigenous communities rely on.
• We've joined environmental justice groups in court to stop the Trump administration from silencing the voice of the people against major polluter projects like oil refineries and chemical plants.
• We're battling day in and day out to turn back the administration's reckless plan to throw open 1.5 million acres of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to development — a direct intrusion on lands vital to the Gwich'in and other Indigenous people.
