Dear John,
WomenHeart has always been committed to advocating for public policies
that support women living with and at risk of heart disease, and 2020
was no different. Faced with a global pandemic - and the need for
swift action to ensure that women with heart disease and others most
at risk from COVID-19 have critical resources and protections -
WomenHeart engaged with lawmakers to raise patients' voices. In
addition, we were thrilled to launch Advocacy Corps, a new effort for
WomenHeart Champions to become skilled patient advocates who influence
public policy to support women living with and at risk of heart
disease.
By lifting up women's stories and taking action, we are having an
impact. We saw two bills that we supported become law - to improve
access to clinical trials and to help curb surprise medical bills for
patients; and two others were passed in the House of Representatives -
to raise awareness of the high rates of heart disease among South
Asian Americans and to expand access to Medicaid to women postpartum.
Together we are working to ensure access to health care, to fight
inequity and discrimination against women in healthcare settings, and
to empower WomenHeart Champions to ensure that the patient voice is
center in the minds of those crafting health policy.
This year, WomenHeart has:
Policy 2020
By donating today, you can become part of our efforts advocating for
gender equity and better health care for all women living with and at
risk of heart disease. Will you help us continue to fight for progress
in 2021?
