Hello again. As I write this the signature gathering period, to get our campaign on the ballot, is eleven days old. We've collected about 500 signatures so far, our of the 2000 we need, and most of what have been collected have not been verified yet by the Registrar's office. Many will be disqualified due to missing information, illegible writing or some other reason. It's best to temper expectations, but we are doing very well. But we've got to keep this up, which means it's never been more important to contribute if you can. This is to help pay for gas, much needed fliers and if we don't make the 2000 signatures for some reason, we need to be able to pay the remainder of the filing fee. So if you can help out, please do. Also, please consider writing a letter to the editor of your local paper about our campaign. Any way we can get the word out helps.
Meanwhile, I continue to carry the message of wasteful military spending preventing expanding programs that help people at the American Canyon City Council and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, where the message was particularly well received. I walked back from the podium to people giving me thumbs up and telling me "good job". It is good to know that so many people have agreed with our message of justice.
Tomorrow evening I will be back at the Vallejo City Council. The Police Officer's union is asking the Council to strike drug testing after taking a life from police contracts. This, to me, is an admission of guilt. Why would this even be asked? If an airline pilot or even a taxi driver took a life, you bet they would be drug tested. Why should a police officer, who walks around a city of 120,000 people with a gun, be any different? If you live in, or near, Vallejo, please join us at this meeting to cry foul and let the Council know that this is simply not an acceptable course of action.
Thank you,
Jason Kishineff
