Dear Friend,
While this year's news focused on elections and the pandemic, *you and I both know there's an even bigger crisis looming: the climate.* Just this year we've seen wildfires rip across Australia and California, the busiest hurricane season on record, and megadroughts.
*So it's time to step up and resource real climate solutions [ [link removed] ].* By donating to Grassroots International, you'll allow movements to tackle both the root causes and devastating effects of climate change.
You may know about Norysell Massanet. She runs a small farm in southern Puerto Rico, inspiring her neighbors and people across the archipelago to return to climate-sustainable, liberatory ways of living. With Organización Boricuá, she's also challenging the continued legacy of the U.S.'s occupation of her home - an occupation that's led to both social and environmental vulnerability. *When Hurricane Maria struck, Grassroots International partners were there to rebuild, thanks to donor-activists like you.*
As corporations and governments continue their unrestrained feast on fossil fuels, frontline communities will continue to resist. From the small farmers in Haiti and Puerto Rico, to the women leaders of West Africa, they'll continue to provide real solutions and alternatives. And these movements will continue to need our support.
That's why, though you haven't given before, I'm reaching out. *Would you consider making your "first donation to Grassroots International [ [link removed] ]" during our Solidarity Match campaign? Every gift received between now and December 31, up to $20,000, will be matched - doubling your impact!*

As the climate crisis continues in 2021, so too must our demands for real solutions. You, social movements and communities around the world are making those demands a reality. Let's continue to *step up and defend our planet.
In gratitude & solidarity,
Chung-Wha Hong
