Dear John,

Earlier this month, we saw a news interview that stopped us in our tracks — speaking to Fox Business, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul said, "I'm very, very concerned that if you solicit votes from typically non-voters, that you will affect and change the outcome."

That’s right — a U.S. Senator actually said, out loud, that he wants to make it harder for people to vote if that will benefit his political interests.

Our elected officials should know better than anyone that democracy relies on voter participation. But the unfortunate reality is that in 2020, not everyone believes voting should be a right for all.

This election, we showed the power of democracy, breaking new voting records despite a global pandemic. And now, it's clear that those who work to limit democratic participation are worried. That’s why they're attempting to implement more barriers to voting, like requiring that absentee ballots be notarized. In order to fight back, we need your support, and time is running out to reach our end-of-year goal.

With just three days left until our midnight deadline, can we count on you to rush a donation?

We have said it before, but it bears repeating: Your support has been critical in expanding our efforts this past year. From fueling our efforts to strengthen election security to helping fight for automatic voter registration — every dollar has brought us one step closer to ensuring free and fair elections.

We’re trying to raise $10,000 today to help jumpstart our work in 2021. If less than a quarter of the people reading this gave $25, we would hit our goal for today instantly. Make a contribution today to help us reach our daily goal and fuel our next year of work.
