John -- the end of the year is a time for reflection, and after four years of the Trump administration, the extent of devastation to families is overwhelming and heartbreaking to think about.
Yet even now I’m sorry to say: it’s not over. There are still families separated by ICE. There are more than 600 children who will spend tonight away from their parents, even though they were separated YEARS ago. And those are the children we know about.
In 2021 we can’t afford to take our foot off the gas for even a second. We have an enormous amount of work as an organization and as a country to repair the damage and live up to the most basic values of care, compassion, dignity, and simple human decency.
But I need to be honest: it is harder to raise funds when the headlines have moved on, and we need to raise $25,000 in the next four days.
