Dear John,
I am proud of many things the Ms. Foundation was able to accomplish this year because of the generous support we had from people like you. One such highlight was publishing Pocket Change: How Women and Girls of Color Do More With Less. This ground-breaking study presents new research about women of color-led organizations across the United States and the U.S. territories.
Not everyone is a data nerd. I get that! So allow me to introduce you to a character named Regina and her story about the nonprofit she started in Louisiana. My team created Regina’s story to help bring to life the hundreds of real life experiences that inform the Pocket Change data. Check out the new site and learn how women of color keep the work going by doing more with less. And, if you do happen to be a proud data nerd, go to the site to access the Pocket Change fact sheets, which highlight specific aspects of the research findings.
We’ve been delighted by how quickly Pocket Change has been put to use, shedding light on the work we need to do to make sure critical work is effectively supported by philanthropy. Pocket Change has already helped to inform new initiatives like the Black Girls Freedom Fund that aim to raise historic levels of philanthropic support for women and girls of color.
If you have made a gift to the Ms. Foundation this year, you have helped to make this impact possible. You can still help us get the word out. Pitch in right now by making a year-end gift to our “Women Women Win” campaign before December 31st.
In solidarity,
Ruth McFarlane, VP of Advancement
