Tell U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:
Do not approve proposed cuts to Medicaid, which threaten access to care for people across the country. These cuts will unfairly impact women, people of color, immigrants, people turning 65, and people with disabilities—worsening existing health disparities. The proposed changes are especially concerning for people with disabilities
During the pandemic, Congress approved more money for state Medicaid programs; in return, they were prohibited from cutting health services. This proposal lets states make cuts that would be harmful to the health and well-being of our communities. We should be working to strengthen our healthcare system, not tear it down.
Please reject these proposed changes to Medicaid.

John,
The Trump administration has just a few weeks left in power—but that isn't stopping them from trying to undermine Medicaid for millions of Americans.
This spring, Congress took critical actions to protect healthcare for people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Congress’s deal was simple: if states wanted extra Medicaid money to cover healthcare costs, they could not cut healthcare coverage, services, or increase costs.
Now, the Trump administration is ignoring Congress and reversing existing policies to try to change the deal. The administration has issued a new regulation that allows states to keep all the extra money, but strips away protections for low-income people.
Together, we must fight this last-minute change. Add your name! Submit an official comment to HHS and tell them to reject this outrageous rule change. Cutting people’s healthcare during a pandemic is a horrible idea!
These healthcare cuts will unfairly target women, people of color, immigrants, and people with disabilities—worsening existing health disparities.
If these proposed rule changes take effect, states would have the power to cut coverage for eligible people after hospitals or other healthcare providers have helped them sign up for Medicaid; cut full Medicaid coverage for older adults turning 65 years old. (These older adults will face increased costs and the potential for health crises as they transition to Medicare); cut all kinds of healthcare services, like dental and vision, resulting in individuals going without needed care or taking on unexpected medical costs; and slash benefits and increase costs for individuals with disabilities, which may cause health crises or force them to be institutionalized.
After Joe Biden is sworn in as our next president, we will not have to defend against these outrageous attacks on Medicaid. But until then, we are not letting our guard down. Submit an official comment to HHS today to reject this rule change that undermines Medicaid and the countless Americans who depend on it. Remember—every comment must be viewed by HHS, so yours will help slow them down as the Trump Administration’s time runs out.
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
