Shareholder Power Email not displaying correctly?
Dear John, Shareholder power is making a real difference on pesticide use. Overuse of pesticides on crops causes major problems. Loss of topsoil and biodiversity as well as harm to pollinators head the list. It also leaves farmers unprepared to cope with climate change. We’re working on this with several food manufacturers, and General Mills is really stepping up. They’ve publicly stated their strategies for reducing pesticide use in their supply chains. This includes supporting farmers changing to regenerative agriculture practices. This strategy promotes reductions in chemical pesticides, and improves soil health and biodiversity. All of this benefits the climate as well. AND they specified how they’ll measure progress, which is a crucial accountability step. General Mills expressed its gratitude to As You Sow for pushing it to take action.
Thanks to you and our other supporters, as General Mills steps up as a leader, we can press other corporations to follow. Here’s to a pesticide-free future!
Best, Christy Spees
P.S. For more information on General Mills’ commitment, see our press release and the company’s pesticides statement.
