Friend,
More than one in three children are missing meals or suffering from reduced portion sizes. 18 million children are currently struggling with food insecurity.
Due to the pandemic, the millions of children living in food-insecure households who rely on critical programs, such as the National School Lunch program and School Breakfast program, are no longer receiving the food they need to stay healthy. And as it gets colder and schools are forced to move online again, children’s access to the critical school meal programs they need will continue to decline.
Kids who don’t get enough to eat are at a serious disadvantage, becoming more likely to face health concerns and learning challenges in school.
But there’s a program that can help prevent this -- the Pandemic-EBT program, which provides funding on EBT cards to families with children whose schools are closed. The federal government has approved this program for the 2020-21 school year, but not every state is taking advantage of this crucial program, which lifted tens of millions of children out of hunger during the last school year.
Can you help us hit our $1500 goal by midnight to help us advocate for every state to implement the Pandemic-EBT program so that all kids receive the nutritious food they deserve?
