EPI is an essential ally in our fight for working people

[link removed]
Friend,

I wanted to make sure you saw the message from U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, below.

At a time of growing income and wealth inequality, our work is all the more critical to strengthening the rights and wages of working people. Together, working with our leaders in Congress, we must advance a worker-focused agenda in 2021 including universal healthcare, a $15 minimum wage, paid family leave, expanding Social Security and more!

Read Senator Sanders’s email below, and then make a year-end, tax-deductible donation to EPI to power our movement for working people and progressive economic change. ([link removed])

Thank you,

Friend,

We are at a pivotal moment in U.S. history. The importance of ushering in a new administration, and with it an agenda that addresses the needs of working people, cannot be overstated.

On Election Day, millions of people throughout our country stood up for democracy, stood up for working families who are struggling to make ends meet, and stood up to demand progressive economic change.

Now, we have a real opportunity to implement that change, and we need critical allies such as the Economic Policy Institute with us in that fight.

Together, we must lay the groundwork for the difficult task ahead of helping millions of people through a devastating economic and health crisis. That means creating a just economy, fighting for workers' rights―including a $15 minimum wage and universal healthcare.

I am proud to call EPI an ally in our fight for progressive economic change. Join me in supporting EPI today, and help make sure they have the resources needed to power the research and data behind our movement for working people. This is important. ([link removed])

Now, it is no great secret that Joe Biden and I disagree on a number of issues. But there is no question that the economic proposals that Joe Biden supports are strong and will go a long, long way in improving life for working families.

With this election, we will soon have a President who understands the power and importance of unions, and the critical role they play in lifting up families and communities. We will have a President who understands that too many Americans are just one car breakdown or health diagnosis away from bankruptcy. We will have a President who understands the government has an important role to play to ensure everyone―regardless of race or background―has the opportunity of a good education and a good-paying job that can support a family.

This coronavirus pandemic, which is sweeping throughout our country infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands of people, has made it more clear than ever that it is past time to do away with our cruel, dysfunctional healthcare system. An uncontrolled pandemic like the one we are all living through shows that healthcare must be guaranteed as a basic human right, not a privilege.

Year after year, the Economic Policy Institute has worked to ensure the needs of working people are reflected in the policy decisions being made in Washington, DC and across the country. EPI was the first to detail the growing gap between wages and productivity and to detail the sharp rise in CEO pay―now 320 times that of the average working person.

Here's the truth, Friend: as a member of the U.S. Senate, it is invaluable to have allies like EPI.

From a $15 minimum wage, to paid family leave, to expanding Social Security and more―EPI is the research behind our movement for progressive economic change. That's why I'm asking:

Can you chip in $27 or more today to support the research behind our movement for progressive economic change―and advance an agenda that works for working people? ([link removed])

With the election behind us, our job now is to advance a progressive economic agenda and stop American democracy from sliding further and further toward an oligarchic form of society. Thank you for all you do—and will continue to do—to fight for an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few.

In solidarity,

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders
