We will have a President who understands that too many Americans are just one car breakdown or health diagnosis away from bankruptcy. We will have a President who understands the government has an important role to play to ensure everyone―regardless of race or background―has the opportunity of a good education and a good-paying job that can support a family.

This coronavirus pandemic, which is sweeping throughout our country infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands of people, has made it more clear than ever that it is past time to do away with our cruel, dysfunctional healthcare system. An uncontrolled pandemic like the one we are all living through shows that healthcare must be guaranteed as a basic human right, not a privilege.
