Combating antisemitism requires a global response. AJC is there. Will you be there too?

Dear John,
Jewish life is under threat in Europe. Again.
And it’s not just happening in the shadows.
It’s happening out in the open. The European Court of Justice recently ruled in favor of a Belgian kosher slaughter ban, making ritual life in Europe more onerous for Jews under the guise of “animal welfare.”
And while officials are undermining the religious practices of Jews, European Jewish institutions still require heavy security. Jewish cemeteries are still being desecrated. Antisemitic and racist political movements are rising.
The situation is alarming, but AJC will never give up on the Jews of Europe.
AJC is on the frontlines of the global fight against antisemitism, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with European Jews. They are counting on AJC. That means AJC is counting on you. Will you heed the call? [link removed]
The generous donor who has offered to match any gift to AJC has just increased his commitment. Now, your gift will be doubled, up to a total of $700,000, but only until December 31. [link removed]
For over 20 years, AJC has been alerting European leaders to the resurgence of antisemitism on their soil. When too many chose to look away, AJC was there, calling on officials to face the problem head on. Together, we’ve successfully urged European governments to do the following:
Define antisemitism. [link removed] In 2020 alone, AJC pushed six European countries to adopt the internationally-recognized Working Definition of Antisemitism. In all, 24 European countries have adopted the Working Definition, which can be utilized by governments to train law enforcement and the courts on how to spot antisemitic hate speech and bias crimes.
Appoint national commissioners to focus on the fight. [link removed] Any effective effort to combat Jew-hatred across the European Union must be the charge of one leader who can coordinate a cross-governmental response. AJC worked with the EU to appoint such an official and many member states have followed suit. Italy, Romania, and the Netherlands are just the latest countries to appoint special antisemitism monitors at AJC’s urging.
Crack down on antisemitic terror. [link removed] Whether antisemitism emanates from the far-right, the far-left, or Islamist extremism, governments must be serious about addressing it. In 2020, AJC led the fight against Hezbollah’s operations in Europe, convincing seven countries to designate the Iranian proxy a terrorist organization. AJC will never forget the Jews killed by Hezbollah’s antisemitic brutality, whether in Europe, Latin America, or Israel.
AJC will not give up until Jews in Europe—and Jews all around the world—are able to live and celebrate their Judaism safely and securely.
Your gift to AJC today will go twice as far in battling the global scourge of antisemitism. Can we count on your support? [link removed] [link removed]
Sincerely,
Simone Rodan-Benzaquen
Director, AJC Europe
