Dear John,
Polar bears are in trouble. The Trump administration is trying to force through
oil and gas drilling and seismic testing in the Arctic Refuge -- the heart of
polar bear territory. Help save endangered polar bears and all who call the Arctic Refuge home: Make
a tax-deductible year-end donation and your gift will be matched
dollar-for-dollar!

In the Arctic, wildlife is being forced to adapt to a climate that’s changing
twice as fast as any other region on the planet. Species are struggling to
survive these rapidly changing conditions -- perhaps none more than the
endangered polar bear. The entire species is threatened, but the Southern
Beaufort Sea population -- found largely in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
-- is one of the most imperiled groups of polar bears in the world.
Now, Trump wants to give oil and gas companies free rein to run over polar bear
denning territory with massive industrial trucks and heavy machinery for
drilling and seismic testing.
This heartbreaking disaster could begin as soon as January. That’s why we are
doing everything we can to stop it.
Help save polar bears from this onslaught -- donate $27 or more NOW and your
gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar!

[[link removed]]Polar bears are already struggling. As sea ice vanishes due to climate change,
polar bears are drowning and starving to death. This particular population of
polar bears, known as the Southern Beaufort Sea population, has already declined
by 40 percent in recent years.
As the ice melts away, polar bear mothers are increasingly forced onto land, to
the coastal plain, to build their dens. On land, they are particularly
vulnerable to disturbance while denning -- disturbances like 90,000-pound vehicles conducting seismic testing in a grid pattern across their
habitat, thumper trucks, tractors, and bulldozers operating 24/7, paving the way
for oil extraction and climate change that would destroy their habitat forever.
If the Trump Administration gets away with this move, it could mean the end of
the Southern Beaufort Sea polar bears.
Stop Trump’s attack on polar bears before it’s too late. Give a year-end tax
deductible contribution to Friends of the Earth.

[[link removed]]Trump’s latest and last-ditch attack on the Arctic Refuge violates the rights of
Indigenous people, threatens iconic wildlife like endangered polar bears, and
locks in catastrophic global climate change impacts in one of the most sensitive
and vulnerable ecosystems in the world.
Trump is doing everything he can to lock in his “Extinction Plan” before he
leaves office. Since losing the election, he has only escalated his assault on
the Arctic, ordering his administration to proceed at a record pace, auctioning
off oil and gas leases, pushing for offshore and on-land extraction, and working
to give Big Oil a blank check to destroy the Arctic forever.
We’re not going to let Trump destroy our wild places and wipe out endangered
wildlife on our watch. And we’re also going to ensure President-Elect Joe Biden
does everything in his power to protect these species and special places.
These are the fights Friends of the Earth was born to win. Just this month, we
helped stop the Liberty Hilcorp project, which would have allowed offshore
drilling to devastate Arctic waterways. We are fighting every lease sale one by
one, and we are using legislation and lawsuits to ban all new attempts at
drilling in the Refuge.
But we need your help to make it happen. If 75% of the people reading this email
donate today, we’ll reach our fundraising goal. We can’t do this without you,
John.
Time is running out to make your tax-deductible 2020 gift. Save polar bear
mothers and cubs: Donate $27 or more and your gift will be matched
dollar-for-dollar -- up to $809,000!
