Below is a longer, personal message about a huge hurdle my campaign is facing in just a few days: a six-month-long fundraising blackout required by state law -- giving National Republicans a major advantage to gear up for taking back the governorship.
We’re setting an ambitious goal to raise $25,000 before the blackout starts on January 2nd and I’m asking for your support. Please chip in $25, $15, or any amount to help our campaign reach this crucial goal:
We fought hard to win this race in 2018.
Election experts everywhere kept a close eye on this team, waiting to see if we could pull off what hadn’t been done in two decades: electing a Democratic Governor in Nevada.
Our race was deemed a toss-up and we faced an uphill battle to combat the tens of millions in outside spending from national Republicans -- but together we built a people-powered movement that made victory possible.
Now as we gear up for a tough re-election campaign, we’re facing a huge hurdle: Beginning in the new year, state law requires that fundraising for our campaign come to a halt for the duration of the legislative session.
That means that for the next 6 months, our opponents will have a head start on fundraising for a re-election campaign that experts are saying will “look a lot like 2018.”
We know that early money is critical to a successful campaign -- a well-stocked warchest signals that this race will be difficult to challenge, fends off interest from national Republicans, and discourages investment from right-wing super PACs.
So I’m asking for your help: Our campaign has set a goal to raise $25,000 before 11:59 PM on January 1st. We know that this is ambitious, but we’re determined to keep this seat blue and continue fighting for progress in Nevada. Can I count on you to chip in $25, $15, or any amount before the fundraising blackout begins ?
Thank you for your support,
Steve Sisolak
