Friend,

I want to share with you a statistic that is sad but true: less than 1%
of all Common Dreams readers ever make a donation.

Is it because people aren't interested in our journalism? No, because
then people wouldn't read us at all, and traffic is as strong as it's
ever been.

Is it because people can't afford it? Certainly there are many who truly
can't afford to give anything—we understand that deeply, and we will
never paywall or lock people out.

For many, however, we know they don't support the work because they
believe someone else will and it won't really make a difference in the
end— but that is wrong.

Common Dreams only works if those who believe in it support it. If just
a slightly larger fraction of those who depend on us would give just a
small amount—any number will do—we could meet our fundraising needs in
no time at all.

In this one case, it would be good to be part of the "one percent."
Please join the 1% of Common Dreams readers who donate to help keep
progressive, nonprofit journalism alive. Maybe this year, with your
help, we can get it to 2%.
