John,

Our water infrastructure is decaying, leaving many of our neighbors without access to clean and affordable water. This is beyond terrible at any time, but it is deadly during a pandemic.

For years, water bills have skyrocketed across the country because of corporate privatization, aging infrastructure and the loss of federal support. As a result, millions of people can’t afford water for their basic everyday needs. Our research found that in 2016, in a typical year, 15 million people in the United States had their water shut off because their water bills were unaffordable. So in March, as the world began to understand the severity of the pandemic, we became the first national environmental organization to call for a nationwide water shutoff moratorium. Together we have helped protect millions of people from water shutoffs during this crisis.

Donate now to help make water safe and affordable for everyone, and protect communities everywhere. Your tax-deductible donation will be matched 3-to-1 by a group of generous members, up to our organizational goal of 500,000!

Food & Water Watch is fighting back harder than ever to make water safe and affordable for all because we know that water access is critical for public health. That’s why we're fighting for the WATER Act. The WATER Act would make clean water accessible and affordable for our communities. Among its advantages, the WATER Act would:

Repair our aging water systems;
Help small, rural and Indigenous communities;
Stop water contamination from PFAS and other “forever chemicals;”
Help get the lead out of drinking water at home and at school; and
Promote affordable water service for all.

During the COVID crisis, Food & Water Watch has led the fight against dangerous water shutoffs, and in 2021 we will be there too. With the incoming Biden administration and plans for an infrastructure stimulus bill, we now have a chance to pass the WATER Act.

John, will you support our fight for the WATER Act by making a tax-deductible donation? Your gift will be QUADRUPLED. With your support, we can — and we will — win. Donate now to fight for our water, our communities, and the planet. Your tax-deductible donation will be QUADRUPLED!
