Generous Mercy Corps
donors have already contributed to our $300,000 Matching Gift Challenge,
to help communities facing poverty, conflict and climate disaster around
the world. Will you be the next first-time supporter to pitch in towards our goal?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll make my year-end gift today ▸
Depri, 36, and his nine-month-old daughter Meyra (pictured below) fled
their home in Indonesia earlier this year, where they now live in a
makeshift tent. Torrential rain flooded the region, displacing hundreds of
thousands of people from their homes. Water and mud were ceiling high in
some places. Entire communities, including Depri’s, were nearly wiped
away.

Clean water has been particularly hard for flood survivors to come by, as
wells were either destroyed or inundated with muddy, unsafe water. Mercy
Corps is building a water point, which stores trucked-in water and cleans
rain water, to help Depri, Meyra and others in their camp access this most
basic necessity — clean water, which they can now use for cooking,
cleaning, bathing and drinking.

[ [link removed] ]Help families like Depri’s weather the storms that increasingly disrupt
and threaten lives due to climate change. Make your tax-deductible,
matching gift to Mercy Corps today.

Reminder: The deadline for 2020 tax-deductible giving is just four days
away, and thanks to the
CARES Act, you can claim up to $300 in charitable donations this year
whether you itemize deductions or not. [ [link removed] ]We welcome donations by credit
card, Paypal, and Apple Pay.

Responding to climate disasters is just one way we put our donors’ gifts
to work. We’re also helping communities prepare for and prevent the worst
effects of future climate disasters:

• Protecting against extreme heat. In Niger, where temperatures now
regularly exceed 107 degrees, Mercy Corps launched the Cool Roofs
Pilot, to coat 25,000 homes and businesses with a low cost, highly
reflective substance that stops heat absorption. Not only does this
give people respite from the heat, it provides jobs to the trained
technicians needed to install it.
• Connecting farmers to resources. In Kenya, farmers and herders are
eager to adapt to climate change, as worsening weather makes stable
farming and herding much harder. We’re creating open source
information campaigns enabling them to communicate with government and
agriculture experts to make sure the right resources flow to them
quickly.

While we all join together to stop global warming from getting worse, we
can’t ignore the people who are already suffering its devastating effects
now. Mercy Corps is committed to helping people caught up in climate
disasters survive and thrive — building back stronger than before, better
prepared to weather the next disaster, so our new climate reality doesn’t
become one of constant crises.

Your gift today is an important piece of this puzzle. [ [link removed] ]Please, with just four days left
to make an impact this year, send your gift to Mercy Corps right now.

And thank you for choosing to help create the only future that works — one
we can all share in together.

Sincerely,

Piva Bell
Mercy Corps Indonesia Response Team Coordinator
