Hi John,

Two years ago, 60 percent of voters approved Initiative 1639, the most comprehensive gun safety ballot measure in history. This lifesaving law strengthened the rules for purchasing semi-automatic assault rifles, created a safe storage incentive, training requirements, and more. I-1639 was a HUGE step toward keeping our schools and communities safe from the terror of gun violence. Now, all that progress could be undone.

DEFEND I-1639:

Our gun lobby opponents have desperately launched multiple lawsuits to try to stop Initiative 1639. We’ve successfully defended the law three times already, but our opposition is not giving up and the legal landscape has transformed.

Trump has spent the last four years packing federal courts with activist judges who are bent on expanding the Second Amendment. And he secured his most consequential victory with the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. The gun lobby and its supporters know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so they’re doubling down on efforts to challenge any and every gun safety measure: The Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation has filed half a dozen new lawsuits in just the past few weeks.

We know that I-1639 and all the gun safety laws we’ve passed are constitutional and we’re committed to fighting to defend them for as long as it takes. But legal defense is expensive and we won’t be able to afford this fight without your help. Can you donate now to help defend this lifesaving law?

These legal fights have the potential to drain all our resources and prevent us from continuing the rest of our work to keep our communities safe. That’s not lost on our gun lobby opponents. Please, pitch in $16.39 or more to help us stand up against the gun lobby and protect this critical gun safety law.

Thank you,
