Dear John,

I'm sure it's no shock to you that these last few days of December are a real
nail-biter for those of us who manage finances at Amnesty International.

As Amnesty USA’s Board Treasurer, I’ve been monitoring our budget closely. I’ll
tell you why: meeting our fundraising goals is what makes it possible for
Amnesty to go into 2021 with the resources needed to continue to defend and
promote human rights in our country and around the world.

I’m proud to serve an organization that accepts no money from governments to
document and campaign against human rights abuses. But that means our ability to do that work depends on the funds we can raise in
the next few days.

That’s where you come in. Because you’re a part of this community, I’m asking
you to help us reach our critical goal for the year. I just pitched in with a donation... can you show your support, too? Your gift
will have 3X the impact.

Here’s where things stand with our matching funds, which have been donated by a
generous group of Amnesty members:

In my role as Treasurer, I can confirm that Amnesty International always uses
its resources strategically, efficiently, and effectively. We ensure that every
dollar is stretched to go as far as it can towards meeting our goals of
defending and advancing human rights in our country, and around the world.

And while it’s true I’m the numbers person, I’m keenly aware of the people behind this incredible organization, doing the hard work. Our members,
volunteer leaders, and staff are some of the most dedicated people I have ever
met. Many of them are experts on specific human rights issues, and parts of the
world. Others are leaders of local groups in universities and states. Our staff
and volunteer leaders meet with Members of Congress and state legislators to
secure human rights wins, and hold abusers accountable.

Here’s what they all have in common: the shared understanding that we’ve got our work cut out for us next year, and
the commitment to diving in. We have an incredible opportunity to put human
rights at the top of the agenda for the incoming Biden administration. But to do
that takes resources — and that’s why I’m writing to you. Please, chip in whatever amount you can — every dollar you donate to Amnesty
until December 31st will triple in impact.

In the final week of last December, we heard from 9,562 people who stepped in
with an online donation to fuel that very work. We need to exceed that level of
support so that we can start 2021 on a strong footing.

Thanks for your support, today and always.

Sincerely,

Matthew Kennis

Board Treasurer
