Friend -

You might think you can imagine what it’s like for my family to celebrate Christmas without Kira. To pause and see the boys getting older, wishing Kira could see it, too.

If she were celebrating with us this week, she would have really enjoyed this Christmas because the boys are starting to understand what it’s all about. She would have hidden the Elf in a new spot every night. She would have created better stories about Santa than I can ever come up with. And she would have snuck the boys a little extra candy, thinking I wasn’t looking.

You, too, might be missing someone this time of year. COVID-19 has taken more Americans this year than any of us could have imagined when this year started. [[link removed]] And just like the maternal health crisis, this pandemic is disproportionately impacting families that look like mine.

If you’re anything like me, you will miss your loved one even more around the holidays. And thinking of them might inspire you to take action. It certainly does for me. If I can help another family avoid the tragedy mine has been through, I will do whatever it takes. If I can help other babies come home with their mothers to heal and grow, I will do whatever it takes.

The holidays and the new year are a time when many of us reflect on our lives and the roads before us. I’d like to invite you to join me in becoming a supporter and an advocate for maternal health. [[link removed]]

I believe we are gaining momentum. I see now that significant progress is within our reach. Help us raise the sounds of our voices so that policymakers and administrators can no longer ignore us. Help us spread our message so that families and communities are prepared to demand better, more equitable treatment of moms. We need you with us. Support March for Moms today.
